Grants Program

ACPA members may apply to the Educational Leadership Foundation for funding that supports programs and research projects that are consistent with the purposes of ACPA and the Foundation.   In general, those purposes are to enhance the student affairs profession and to generate and disseminate knowledge about college students.   Since 2000, the Foundation has awarded approximately $60,000 for research projects that were conducted by ACPA members.

Grant Application Process

The Foundation is accepting proposals for research topics that address a broad spectrum of student affairs issues.   Proposals must be applicable and pertinent to the profession-at-large and should not be focused on programs or personal travel that is specific to a particular campus or individual.   Examples of funded projects are available on the Foundation website ( Link ). The average award is $1,000-$1,500.

Additionally, for 2008-2009, two corporations have made special donations for research grants.

Allen & O'Hara Education Services, Inc. specializes in developing and managing residence halls and student apartments in close collaboration with universities nationwide.   They have developed or acquired 60 housing communities serving 49 universities.   Allen & O'Hara has contributed $2,500 to the ACPA Educational Leadership Foundation Research and Scholarship Grants with no stipulation on the research to be funded.

Pave Systems delivers judicial and student safety solutions to higher education institutions.   Their web-based enterprise-platform is used by over 300 colleges and universities, combining the best practices of information technology and student affairs to provide resources for student conduct and safety management. Pave Systems has contributed $2,000 to the ACPA Educational Leadership Foundation Research and Scholarship Grants program to support two grants focused on technology, student conduct and dispute resolution, campus safety, etc.
