Joan B. Hirt
Joan
Hirt has served the Student Affairs profession and ACPA with
distinction throughout her career. After serving as a practitioner
in administrative
roles at several universities for 17 years, she became a professor in
the Higher Education and Student Affairs program at Virginia
Tech in
1994. Joan has co-authored two books, written well over 20 journal articles
or book chapters, and has made numerous professional presentations. She
is known as a teacher and speaker with a superb sense of humor and a
persuasive mind. She has won several important awards, including ACPA’s
Annuit Coeptis Award for emerging scholars.
Her colleagues and students describe her as a mentor and friend who
inspires them with her contagious passion for our profession, and a stimulating
professor who displays a deep commitment to the success of her students.
