Dr. Paul Shang

Dr. Paul Shang is Dean of Student Development at Missouri Western State College. Over the last 28 years, he has held various administrative positions at Penn State Worthington-Scranton, Colorado State University, the University of Iowa, and Florida State University. At Colorado State University, Paul also served as a faculty member in the Student Affairs in Higher Education Program.

He is a Past President of ACPA and the recipient of numerous ACPA awards including the Annuit Coeptis Senior Professional Award. As ACPA President, Paul was instrumental in bringing diverse voices to the table of the ACPA leadership. He has spent the vast majority of his career providing direct services to students of color and advocating for inclusive campus communities. He has also mentored many new graduate students into the profession and has followed their careers in the field. A colleague says: “Paul Shang is enthusiastic and passionate about his work. He is a wonderful teacher and a fantastic role model for both his students and his colleagues.”
