Dr. Vasti Torres


Dr. Vasti TorresDr. Vasti Torres is Associate Professor of Higher Education and Student Affairs at Indiana University in Bloomington, IN. Prior to joining the faculty ranks in 1999, she served for 16 years in various administrative roles at Portland State University, UNC Greensboro, Emory University and the University of Virginia.

Vasti became a faculty member because she wanted to further the research on Latino students in college. She has written numerous articles on Latino college students, survey development and use, and other diversity issues. She is also the principal investigator for a Department of Education grant from the Department of Education on "Investigating the Choice to Stay in College for Latino Students."

Among her honors are two from ACPA: the Emerging Scholar and Annuit Coeptis Emerging Professional Awards. A colleague says this about Vasti: “…she is a gifted scholar and educator with an endless passion for teaching. She gives freely of her time and her wisdom, and is a wonderful mentor and role model.”
